Last Week in May 2022 or First Week in June 2022 - Date and Time TBD: The 2022 EAO Scholarship recipients will be recognized in the Louisiana Senate and the House of Representatives at the Louisiana State Capitol Building. NOTE: This is subject to change depending upon the Louisiana Legislature's calendar and workload.
EAO Scholarships - $1,000
The Louisiana Legislative Women’s Caucus Foundation Educational Advancement Opportunity (EAO) Scholarship assists in the advancement of the overall education of women in Louisiana. Each scholarship award is $1,000 and is to be used for tuition, room & board and/or books. The Foundation typically awards numerous EAO Scholarships depending upon its scholarship budget.
The following items are needed to successfully apply for the EAO Scholarship.
EAO Scholarship Application Information
The Louisiana Legislative Women’s Caucus Foundation Educational Advancement Opportunity (EAO) Scholarship assists in the advancement of the overall education of young women in Louisiana. Each scholarship is for $1,000 and is to be used for tuition, room & board and/or books. The Foundation will award numerous EAO Scholarships depending upon its scholarship budget.
I. Criteria of Eligibility for All Applicants:
1. Must be a female student and a resident of Louisiana
2. Must attend school Fall 2022
3. Cannot be a previous recipient of the Women of Excellence Award, Louisiana Legislative Women’s Caucus Foundation Scholarship or the EAO Scholarship
Additional Eligibility Requirements for:
High School Applicants:
- Must be a graduating high school senior from a Louisiana High School or a home school program approved by the Louisiana Department of Education
- Must graduate or complete an approved home school program by May 2022
- The scholarship will be forfeited if the recipient does not attend school and pursue her degree in the Fall of 2022.
College Applicants:
- Must be currently enrolled in a licensed proprietary school, theological or seminary school, two-year technical or community college, four-year college/university or a graduate/professional school
- Must have attended school in Fall 2021, be enrolled in school for Spring 2022 and attend school in Fall 2022. The scholarship will be forfeited if the recipient does not attend school and pursue her degree in the Fall of 2022.
II. Deadline:
All applications and documents must be completed online and electronically submitted by Thursday, March 31, 2022. All incomplete packages will be automatically disqualified. Any applications received after 11:59 p.m. on March 31, 2022 will be disqualified.
III. Application Requirements – A completed application must include the following:
1. Application – Applicant must electronically complete the Louisiana Legislative Women’s Caucus Foundation Educational Advancement Opportunity Scholarship Application. The application can be completed and submitted online at https://form.jotform.com/220466055411952.
2. Essay – Please respond with an essay on the following topic: “These last two years have been quite challenging to say the least. How have you remained focused educationally in the midst of these trying times?" The essay is not to exceed 500 words and is to answer the question asked. The essay will be judged and given serious consideration. NOTE: Plagiarism will automatically disqualify your application.
3. Transcript – An official transcript must be uploaded online with your un-weighted grade point average, which includes your Fall 2021 grades. Applications will be disqualified if the un-weighted grade point average is not included. If this is the case, please hand-write on the bottom of the transcript "Unweighted G.P.A." and write in your unweighted grade point average and then initial next to your unweighted G.P.A.
On your transcript, please also blackout or whiteout your Social Security Number (SSN). Then, please scan the transcript. If you don't already have a digital file of the transcript. Then, scan the transcript and save as a PDF file or an image file (pdf, jpg, jpeg, png, gif). Pictures or screenshots of transcripts will disqualify your application.
3a. NOTE: – College student applicants, who have already graduated from high school, must also include an official high school transcript (with the un-weighted grade point average) if they have earned 23 (university, college or proprietary school) credit hours or less.
4. Character Reference Form and Letter of Recommendation (See the below note.) – If you are applying for the EAO Scholarship, you will need two character reference forms along with two letters of recommendations. One character reference form and letter must come from a priest/pastor/clergy, mentor, employer, member of your community or a school club administrator. The second character reference form and letter must come from a teacher, instructor or professor who has had the opportunity to evaluate you as a student. You, the applicant, will be responsible for uploading these forms and letters onto your application. Once your recommenders complete the form and upload their letter, the information will be emailed to you. Once you receive the email, please incorporate the form and letter into your application in the designated area. 5. Agreement and Consent Form – This form is to be signed electronically by the applicant and her parent/guardian (if the applicant is under the age of 18 years old) and acknowledges all information is true and accurate in the application.
6. FOR COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY APPLICANTS:
Proof of Registration – Must submit proof of registration from a licensed proprietary school, theological or seminary school, two-year technical or community college, four-year college/university or a graduate/professional school for Spring 2022.
IV. Scholarship Recognition:
1. The recipients will be recognized in the Louisiana Legislature in both the Louisiana Senate and the Louisiana House of Representatives during the last week of May 2022 or the first week of June 2022. The date and time is to be determined. NOTE: The date and time are subject to change.
2. Recipients of the scholarship awards MUST ATTEND in person.
3. The Louisiana Legislative Women’s Caucus Foundation Educational Advancement Opportunity Scholarship for $1,000 will be made payable to the recipient’s college/university. The scholarship check will be sent directly to the university/college to which the recipient has been accepted by early August 2022.

VI. Submission of Application:
Applications must be completed online and electronically submitted to the Louisiana Legislative Women’s Caucus Foundation by Thursday, March 31, 2022 via the provided scholarship platform. Mailed packets will not be accepted. All incomplete packets will be automatically disqualified. Any applications received after 11:59 p.m. on March 31, 2022 will be disqualified.
VII. Procedural Guidelines & Other Requirements:
1. The LLWCF Application Form and all attachments will be the determining factors for the nomination. All information must be completed electronically and submitted online. Applications sent via fax, mail, email or hand-delivered will not be accepted. Incomplete packages and those missing information will be disqualified.
2. Upon receipt, application packages become the property of Women’s Caucus and will not be returned.
4. The Foundation also reserves the right to discontinue any and/or all scholarships, categories or awards should an inadequate number of candidates apply or the lack of scholarship funding realized.
5. All applicants will be notified via email regarding the final outcome of the selection process.
6. The scholarship will be forfeited if the recipient does not attend school and pursue her degree in the Fall of 2022.
7. After recipients are selected and notified, they will be required to upload and submit the following documents to a specified web portal by Monday, May 16, 2022. The link to the web portal will be emailed to the recipients.
A. Short Paragraph Biography – A one paragraph biography in Microsoft Word format in paragraph form. Include the name of your parents/ guardians, major, career goals, special interests and other scholastic honors, achievements and distinctions received.
B. Photograph – An electronic high-resolution photo of yourself (at least 300 dpi in either TIF or JPG format as a separate file). NOTE: “Selfie” photographs WILL NOT be accepted. Please do not embed your photo onto your biography. Please do not send any photocopies or photographs with other people or animals in the picture.
C. Proof of Registration – Must submit proof of registration from a licensed proprietary school, theological or seminary school, two-year technical or community college, four-year college/university or a graduate/professional school for Fall 2022. This must be submitted to the Women’s Caucus Office by July 15, 2022. This will be required before any scholarship checks are disbursed. When requested, this document must be submitted uploaded and submitted via a specified web portal. The link to the web portal will be emailed to the recipients.
